Characteristics and peculiarities

Backgrounds of this model
- On 5th March 2013 at the Geneva motor show Rolls-Royce Motor Cars announced an all new coupé with the model name Wraith.
- The Rolls-Royce Wraith is a 2-door 4-passenger fastback model that was brought to the market besides the Rolls-Royce Phantom coupé. The model didn't replace or succeed another model.
- Many technologies are based on the Rolls-Royce Ghost.

Original characteristics
- The engine is a 6.6 litre turbo charged V12 engine. It is connected to an eight-speed, shift-by-wire automatic transmission from ZF.
- Power output: 624 bhp / 465 kW at 5600 rpm. Max torque: 800 Nm at 1500 to 5500 rpm.
- The Wraith is the first Rolls-Royce with Satellite Aided Transmission (SAT), a technology that processes GPS data to predict the driver's next move and automatically select the right gear for the road ahead.
- The frameless doors open at the front. They can be closed by pressing a button. All four windows can be opened.
- A new wood treatment is introduced, called Canadel Panelling. It is an open grain kind of wood with a light satin finish. The grain is angled at 55 degrees.
- A grille is recessed by 45mm compared with the Rolls-Royce Ghost. The surround has been lengthened by 40mm.
- The Spirit of Ecstasy is positioned further forward on the grille and angled by five degrees.
- As an option a Starlight headliner can be specified, an effect that is achieved with 1340 individual optic lights.
- Compared with the Rolls-Royce Ghost, the rear axle is 24 mm wider, the wheelbase is 183 mm shorter and the centre of gravity nearer the road thanks to a reduction in height of 50 mm.
- Period connectivity and navigation, with voice activation to all functions.
- Introduction of the Spirit of Ecstasy Rotary Controller. This is a touch pad with a Spirit of Ecstasy image (rather than a touch screen which might leave unsightly fingerprints at driver and passenger eye level), with the ability to 'write' characters by finger, as well as the ability to scroll through function menus by turning the chrome dial and pressing down to select its functions. It also allows 'pull and pinch' features.

Production and chassis numbers

- Although the Wraith was introduced in March 2013, no chassis numbers were assigned in model year 2013. The first model year is 2014.
- The Wraiths have a series of numbers of their own.
